Men’s Emotional Processing Group · Phase 1 of 3
The Feeling Work Is the Real Work
A therapy group for men — from surviving to feeling.
Virtual group · meets online by secure video
You learned early that carrying it well was not optional.
You carry it at work, at home, in every room you walk into — and you carry it so well that no one asks what it weighs. Maybe you learned to stay calm because getting upset was never safe for you. Maybe you became the strong one because somebody had to be.
That kept you standing. It also taught you the rule underneath all the others: do it alone. No man carries this well alone.
This is a room of men, led by a man who has carried it too, where you don’t have to explain the weight before you can set it down.
The feeling work is the real work. Not because feelings are soft, but because they are running things whether you look at them or not. A man who knows what’s going on inside him gets to choose what he does next.
Phase 1 of 3 in the Men’s Emotional Processing Group. The three phases are built to follow one another: The Feeling Work Is the Real Work, then Back to Me, then The Work Underneath. That order is my recommendation, not a requirement. Each phase is a complete group, and you can join any one of them without the others. For the fullest result, I recommend all three.
Who this group is for
Men — fathers, husbands, single, young or seasoned — who are tired of carrying it alone.
What we do over twelve weeks
What an emotion is, and what it’s for.
Catching anger, stress, and shame before they run you.
Stopping the avoiding — the scrolling, the working late, the going quiet.
What to do with the voice that says you’re not enough.
Being the man your family needs when no one showed you how.
Throughout, we make room for the weight so many men carry: being made to feel not enough, always having to be on guard, and carrying it in silence. This group draws on emotion-skills training, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and group work designed for men.
“Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another” (Proverbs 27:17, ESV). Brother to brother — for those who share the faith, it’s welcome here.
For pastors and ministry leaders
