Back to Me

An attachment styles group — understanding myself and the people around me.

Virtual group · meets online by secure video

This is where you finally start making sense — to yourself first, and then to the people around you.

You know the moment. Someone gets close, or pulls away, and something in you takes over. Your chest tightens. You say the thing you swore you wouldn’t — or you go quiet and disappear. Afterward you wonder, why do I keep doing that? And why do the people you love keep doing what they do?

Maybe you can already name your attachment style. You’ve read the books. But knowing the pattern is not the same as being free of it. The wound was made in relationship, and that is where it heals.

Over twelve weeks you learn why you feel what you feel and think what you think — so those things stop happening to you and start belonging to you. You come back to the self who was there before the wall went up.

Who this group is for

Adults, single or partnered, whose anxious, avoidant, or push-pull patterns keep running their relationships — with a partner, family, friends, or at work. This group is about every relationship in your life. For dating patterns specifically, see Ready to Be Reached For.

What we do over twelve weeks

  • Trace your pattern to where it was learned — not to blame anyone, but to understand what it was protecting.

  • Read the people around you: what their pulling away or pushing in usually means, so you stop taking every move personally.

  • Find the feeling under the feeling: the anger that is really fear, the coldness that is really hurt.

  • See the cycle you get caught in with the people you love — and learn to step out of it.

  • Hold your thoughts and feelings more lightly, so you can choose what you do next instead of reacting.

  • Practice staying: being seen in a small room, and discovering it doesn’t end the way it used to.

This group draws on attachment-based relational work, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and mindfulness, with my guide Understanding Attachment Styles as the group text.

When the disciples asked whose sin caused a man to be born blind, Jesus answered: neither his nor his parents’ (John 9:2-3). Understanding where a pattern came from isn’t about blame. It’s about grace — for them, and for you.

The details

Every group meets online, and that works in your favor.

  • No traffic, no parking, no waiting room. Ninety minutes of group costs you ninety minutes.

  • You are already home when it ends. After a hard session there is no drive to get through. You close the laptop and you are in your own space.

  • Private from the start. Nobody sees you walk into an office.

  • Distance stops deciding who is in the room. Members join from across Florida, Texas, North Carolina, Virginia, Missouri, and New Jersey.

  • Twelve straight weeks is easier to keep when getting there takes one click.
